The Journey

Updated: Aug 3, 2018

Yoga is a journey. And the thing about journeys is that sometimes you stall out, turn around, and go backwards just to begin the journey again.

My king dancer doesn’t look as beautiful as it once did. Maybe not even “Instagram worthy.”

But what you might not know is that I broke that standing leg last summer. Then I carried a baby in my belly for nine months so the swelling in the leg didn’t go down until weeks after giving birth (2 months ago). A month ago I couldn’t even stand on that leg without holding onto something. And now I can. A journey.

My hips are tight from months in a cast/boot and then being ripped open to bring new life into the world. A journey.

So, today I don’t post a “perfect” pose. I post the journey. Cellulite on the legs, belly hanging out, journey. Because that’s the thing...to make a journey work, you have to show up. You have to be there. And you can’t wait until everything is perfect. You just have to go. To do. To be.

Also, I taught my first yoga class after almost a year of not teaching. Right here on this porch. It felt amazing to use my voice. To teach. To go on this journey with other people. Go out there and be you!
